Replacing an 'Other' Selection With a Specified Value

Tips and Tricks

Multiple choice checklist styled questions are used to check one or more items that apply. Furthermore this style of question often ends with an 'other' option and prompts the user to specify as depicted below

A reference directly to the checklist question would return 'Golf|Tennis|Other', an accurate but not readable result. The following formula could be used to present the text as Golf, Tennis and Cycling.

joinand(chr(44), " and ", replace([Q1], "Other", [Q2]))

The formula works by first detecting if the "other" was checked and replacing it with the actual value specified in the text box. Then it used the joinand() function to manipulate the values in to a comma separated sentence.
