Release Notes - Infiniti 9.0.0

Applies to Infiniti v9.0.0 or later....

Introduction: Infiniti 9.0.0

Infiniti, by Intelledox, helps organizations to nurture and control business processes through document automation, smart web forms (e-forms), batch processing and CRM. It is an award-winning product that allows businesses to produce smarter, targeted customer communications while easing the burden of paperwork and red tape.

Infiniti, by Intelledox, seamlessly integrates with an organization’s existing technology investments, including SharePoint, TRIM, TIBCO and Changepoint. Infiniti uses the native power of Microsoft Office while leveraging sophisticated rules engines, audit trails and reporting to produce compliant, data-driven documents.

Unlike other business process automation software that can only produce outputs in one type of file or format, Infiniti can generate multi-format, multi-channel documents in DOC, DOCX, PDF, XML, PPT, SMS, email and many more.

This is a product release that delivers additional functionality over the previous customer version of Infiniti (Version 8.7.1).

Infiniti 9.0.0 features

Infiniti 9.0.0 introduces the following new features and updates over the previous public release version of Infiniti V8.7.1:

Project Fragments

In Infiniti V9.0.0, a new type of project has been introduced - a "Project Fragment". A project-fragment can be described as a sequence of  instructions or steps that perform a specific task and return a standard output that may be required in more than one location within the form or project. For example, returning a mailing address for a given user-id. This package of tasks can be started (called) several times and from several places during form execution, including from other forms/projects. It achieves this by using a set of input parameters and then provides the output via a set of output parameters. In this way, repetitive functions can be created once and called throughout the Infiniti instance to provide the same output wherever required.

This feature allows Workflow states to be assigned to users simultaneously, and for the workflow to progress only once all concurrent states have been completed. Question references are resolved concurrently across all states in a parallel section. Parallel sections can optionally be exited from without requiring consensus between assignees, and tasks can be reassigned without affecting the other parallel tasks. However, termination of a parallel task will result in the termination of all tasks in the same parallel section.

Response Data Sources (Project-Results data object)

From V9.0.0,  data in repeating-sections and repeating-pages can be reused in other areas of the project by making it available through a special type of 'data source'. The data source is created based on projects that have 'already' been executed at least once. The data-source's columns are the 'question names' available in the section/page and the 'column values' are the values returned by each of the questions.
Responses data-sources that point to a project with repeaters in it, can be used in a similar fashion to hierarchical data-sources. During set up, the 'child data-source' question is setup to point to the 'parent data-source' question. The data objects will be the first-level repeaters in that project. Nested repeaters are also handled by this hierarchical setup.

Currently, (V9.0.0):
  • Only supports single select data sources. Returns the selected Value field. Ignores specific answers.
  • Rich Text is returned unparsed. So if there's html markup in there, the html markup remains in there.
  • Workflow projects will be better supported from V9.1.x.x onwards.

The "Numeric Slider" question type

A new question type, 'Numeric', has been introduced in Infiniti V9.0.0 onwards. The Numeric-Slider question type can be used as a more engaging interactive alternative to the existing "Text field" (formerly knows as a "User prompt"). Rather than simply manually entering a value, participants can drag a bar to select a value of their preference.

Compatibility Mode - Referencing the values of 'inactive' items

In previous versions of Infiniti, all inactive questions returned a value regardless of whether they were utilised or ignored (depending on Project design). With the “project compatibility mode” setting, Infiniti  can control if projects are required to respond in the Legacy way ( where inactive questions have a value)  or in the new way (where inactive questions return a "blank" value).
